History
Saint Louis, MO was a major source of manufacturing ammunition during WWII. During this time, a man named Sid Boedeker took a job at the Saint Louis Munitions factory in the safety department. Given his family history (his father was employed at International Shoe Co.), he was given the job of distributing conductive footwear to keep the employees on the manufacturing line safe. After the war, Sid moved on to hold many jobs, including being a ranch hand, until he eventually went to work with his father at International Shoe. In 1946, Sid decided to open his own distributorship and Sid Boedeker Safety Shoe Service was born.
From those humble beginnings in a Florissasant basement and old laundry truck, we have expanded to four physical locations, 9 states, and a fleet of 10 Shoemobiles.

Delivering Safety Footwear To You
Shoemobile service is available throughout the territory we operate in.
We operate several different kind of Shoemobiles,
including straight trucks tractor trailers, and horse trailer styles.
All shoemobiles have A/C and heat to help keep customers comfortable.
All shoemobiles are outfitted with the broadest range of selection available,
ranging from 75-110+ styles and 1000-2500 pairs in stock to service your needs on site.
We also have shoemobiles outfitted with specialty styles such as metatarsal guard footwear.
We only display approved footwear for your company’s needs to make sure your employees are compliant.

Our Brick and Mortar showrooms offer even more! Sid Boedeker Safety Shoe Service offers the widest selection of safety footwear available. With over 200 styles of safety specific footwear in stock, no one matches the selection we offer. Between four store locations we stock roughly 38,000 pairs of safety footwear. Here at SBSS, we specialize in safety footwear and our focus is your comfort and safety. Our staff has been trained in the specific fitting needs of safety footwear, as well as the different specifications required for any industry. From warehouse to steel mills, from food production to ammunition production, we understand your needs and environment to give you the best footwear available to keep you comfortable and safe, all day long.
We believe in fit, comfort and safety. Because of this, we do not keep inventory on our sales floors. Every customer will have a safety footwear specialist work with them to make sure they get the right footwear and fit for their job.
